California Democratic Party Endorses YES on Proposition 3 to Protect School Funding and Healthcare
SAN DIEGO, CA — The California Democratic Party voted over the weekend to endorse YES on Proposition 3, the California Children's Education and Health Care Protection Act, which goes before the voters on the November 2026 statewide ballot.
Yes on Prop 3 provides permanent funding for schools and healthcare. By maintaining the existing rates on the wealthiest 2%, Prop 3 brings $10 billion to the state’s General Fund every year. That funding is applied to the school funding levels required by Proposition 98, which then frees up billions in critical funding for healthcare, child care, wildfire protection, frontline workers and more.
CDP Chair Rusty Hicks issued the following statement:
"Proposition 3 protects funding for our schools and health care, and does it without raising taxes for working families. Letting it expire would mean real cuts to our classrooms and to the care Californians count on. That's why the California Democratic Party is proud to stand behind this measure — and why we're urging voters to say YES on Prop 3."
