New PPIC Poll: Yes on Prop 3 Leads by 17 Points One Week Before Election Day
SACRAMENTO, CA – A new statewide survey from the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC) finds Proposition 3 leading 58% to 41% among likely voters, a 17-point margin, with one week left before the November 3 election.
The results continue a steady trend in PPIC polling. Californians have consistently backed Prop 3 throughout 2026, with 62% support in April, 58% in September, and 58% today.
Prop 3, the California Children’s Education and Health Care Protection Act of 2026, extends the income tax rates the wealthiest 2% of Californians already pay. It is not a tax increase. Without Prop 3, those rates expire, and California schools and health care face billions of dollars in cuts.
“Every time Californians have been asked, they’ve said the same thing: protect the funding that pays for smaller class sizes, school meals, and mental health support for our students,” said Jeffery M. Freitas, President of CFT, A Union of Educators and Classified Professionals. “The wealthiest 2% have paid these rates for 14 years, and our schools and colleges are stronger for it. With one week left, we’re asking every voter to vote Yes on Prop 3.”
Prop 3 is supported by a broad coalition of educators, nurses, firefighters, parents, and health care advocates, including the California Teachers Association, California Federation of Teachers, California School Employees Association, California State PTA, California Nurses Association, California Professional Firefighters, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, and SEIU California.
